Is there a way I can make sure guests can't post unless they register for a username? If so, that would be awesome. Thanks

Yes you can do that. It should be like that by default.
First go to your Admin Panel
Then on the left hand side
Under Forum Admin
Click on Permissions
Select Your Forum then click on the permission level you want.
If you want to restrict different permission types go to Advanced Mode
